"August is that last flicker of fun and heat before everything fades and dies." -Rasmenia Massoud

August is almost gone and my list of things to do this month seems to continue to grow. The weather this year has been one for the record books. Started the year headed into a severe drought, and there was more than once we questioned if every seed that was out in the ground was destined to burn up. Just when it was getting critical, we would get a rain! One of our best market mornings we got hit with the weather, again. I made 34 wrapped bouquets, my largest set! We had sold 19 by 10am and we were ecstatic and so incredibly appreciative of the amazing community! Then came the report that there was a storm coming in that was supposed to be there by 11 or 12. Ok no problem that gives us plenty of time. by 10:30 every tent was either taken down or blown down. We were the latter. But thanks to the quick help of one of the guys at market I did not learn how to fly attached to our tent! Thankfully due to the expected heat that day I had gone to market by myself, and our damage was reparable, and we continued on the next week!

The first of this month Chris and I decided to get away for a few days. After 11 years of marriage, it was our longest trip since our honeymoon, 3 nights. It was much needed. Of course, I had to get some pictures of the flowers growing on the beach! Found a store that I think was custom made for me, Florist and Coffee Bar! We did not go in...I think Chris was afraid he would not get me back! Tried Cuban Coffee and Florida Orange Juice and I am pretty sure we left part of our Heart in Florida!

We came home after a week of rain. The weeds have taken over the gardens, but the flowers still are putting on exquisite blooms! I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little glad I wouldn't have been able to be in the gardens if we had been home! We got home Friday afternoon and were at Market on Saturday morning, below are photos of that market.

August 6th through the 12 was National Farmers Market week and we had to do something fun. I made little bouquets that our son handed out in Albany (he handed out 22) and our daughter handed out at the Maryville Market. They both loved it, and we loved seeing the smiles on the faces of the future of Farmers Markets!

We finished the Markets in Albany on August 17th and got front row seats to see my little brother and his wife sing! Kids had a blast. We are so thankful for those who reached out to us about this market and the knowledge and skill we gained from this experience!

I decided to jump out of my comfort zone and submit two photos I took of the farm into the Photography contest at the fine arts building of the Missouri State Fair. So, we spent the August 19, market in Sedalia at the state Fair with the kids. I didn't win but it was a great experience, and the kids had a blast.

Now I should probably quit procrastinating and go put my fall seeds in. We have Maryville Markets to mid-October as well as several other events so be sure to follow our social media pages also! We have Facebook and Instagram! enjoy a few last pretty pics!
