I am so excited for you and the beauty that are amaryllis! Amaryllis love warmth. Their favorite location is near a register with sunlight from a window!
Water them only when they are dry surfaced.
Once your Amaryllis begins to bloom move it out of the window, blooms will fade quicker in the sunlight!
As the blooms Fade pop them off.
once blooms are done treat your Amaryllis as a house plant until the time of year tomatoes plants are being planted ( Mother's day in NW Missouri). Let it live outside until August, watering when dry.
In August bring your Amaryllis inside and place in a dark area, preferred temp would be 50s to 60s. I don't have a basement so mine will be going into a cabinet. DO NOT WATER.
allow your Amaryllis to stay dry and dormant for 8 to 10 weeks. In November, pull your amaryllis out of the dark. If it seems crowded in the pot (roughly 1" around space from pot) it will need to be repotted, leaving shoulders of the bulb up out of the dirt. Water it. Place it again in its warm Location and wait for Beautiful blooms around Christmas! Happy Growing!
